How can I tell which diesel motor I have? No numbers on the motor itself. It has the injectors that go into the head at an angle. Any help with this would be great. I want to make sure I order the correct overhaul kit.

it should be the perkins ad4.203 motor
the ad4.212 should have been in later 165 but it could have been swapped out at some point in the past
if you go to tractor data . com there are engine specs listed there you should be able to tell which motor you have from them as there is a big differance in bore and stoke between the two motors

Sit on the tractor seat If it is The 4-203 the exhaust is on the left side the 4-212 will have it on the right hand side.

Hello Dieseltech,
The A4.212 diesel replaced the AD4.203 in the UK and Europe in late 1967 at Banner Lane and Beauvais. Production ceased around 1975 with the introduction of the 500 series tractors. It was used as the petrol version in what WE on this side of the pond might consider as errrrrr "overseas markets". ;0)))))

Cheers

Hi David , Just to confuse matters, am I right in saying that just a few 165 tractors had the 236 fitted?
