MH 101 Crank seals?

Hello,
I have a '46 101 Jr with Continental F162 engine. I shattered a piston at idle, and had the cylinder bore and sleeved. Now I'm putting it back together.
I bought the Mahle full gasket kit, F1634GH, but didn't see any cork replacement seals for the Rear Bearing Oil Guard, (not the oil pan side, the crankshaft side) the damaged cork was already removed and the rear bearing oil guard cleaned.
I did find two graphite soaked pieces of 'rope' that seem a bit big for the job, and was wondering it that's the right seals, and if so, what's the best way to install them?
Attached URL link it's item 62.
Any advice appreciated

I found a little more information on the 'rope' seal.
It's apparently called a jute seal. My machinist explained how to install them.

1: Soak the seal in oil
2: Find the 'flat' and lay the packing down on the flat
3: Place metal or wood plate over seal and using hammer flatten the seal until it is narrow enough to fit in the rear seal slot.
4: Install seal into slot, and with either wood dowel or socket, roll and press the seal into the slot until it is firmly in place and seated in the slot, and verify it is not easily removed.
5: After fitted into slot, then trim the excess ends of the seal, leaving at least 1/16" on each side.

Anyone else have experience with these type of seals, and does this sound about right??

There has always been some debate about soaking the rope seal in oil, or not. Another debate is how much to leave when you trim the seal, some people say cut it flush, some say cut it .015" longer, some say about 1/16". If it where me I wouldn't soak it in oil because soaking it in oil will make it swell up before you put it together (I'd put some oil on it right before bolting it together). Then I would cut it .010" longer after putting it in (ask 10 people the same question you'll get 10 different answers). Here is the only video I could find about installing a rope type seal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qXo9pW6nEo
