I bought this 1974 MF 1155 off a fella that put the duals on before he sold it. i don"t need them on right now and need to remove them for haying. Whats the best way to remove them? They are tight!!

If I remember... Four bolts hold the cast wheel to the tapered hub. There are two extra holes in the wheel, they are threaded so you screw in two of the bolts and they bottom out against the flange of the hub. May have to clean threads if they haven't been used recently. Inner tire should be supporting the tractor weight so dual is free to slide off hub. You may have to strike wheel with a large hammer or maul. HTH. Joe

Hi The bolt deal is correct, What ever you do don"t break a tap or bolt off in the removal holes if they are full of rust, and need cleaning right through.
I had a used 1135 tractor here somebody did that to on an inner wheel I needed off. to do that I got the dual off and one bolt in the good thread hole
then had to jack the opposite to the bolt against the cab mount with a 20 ton jack. with an outer wheel if its in close you got no space to work with like that, if anythings messed up. Pounding a big crow bar in to pop it's not easy either, tried that also
.
You could also just remove the rim/tire with outer bolts and leave the hub if grass or hay won't wrap on the hub when working in the field if it's that tight.
I got lucky with mine, just go careful with the bolts and threads.
When I took mine off and fitted my duals back on, I put a block under the inner wheel to take the weight off the dual a bit. so I wasn't fighting the weight of the tractor pushing the tire down into the ground, you will need a loader tractor to lift/ support a whole wheel/cast hub. that thing is incredibly heavy and will squish a guy in a heart beat if it gets away on you. Local guy got killed by a dual wheel a few years ago, when it fell on him while working with it.
