How do I tell if my gas cap is vented? I am getting pressure built up in the tank and am wondering if my cap is vented but don"t know how to tell.

If you are building up negative vaccum pressure in the tank, then you do not have a vented cap or your cap is plugged.

Most time the tractor will stop running after 30-45 minutes.

as the vacuum builds up in the tank, the fuel will stop flowing to the carb. Open the cap and hear a swoosh sound as the air rushes in.

Clean out the vent hole or replace the cap.

That is exactly what is happening. Tractor runs fine for about 45 minutes or so and starts cutting out. I open gas cap and hear the pressure release. I checked my cap and there is no hole going thru it. The bottom of the cap has a hole but not the top. There appears to be a very small slotted screw in the top but it is really tiny and I don"t know if I can remove it.

the under side of the cap it has a spring loaded little plug. I had to spray some break cleaner on mine because it was stuck then blow it out with air fixed it right up

I found the spring loaded plug on the underside of the cap. It is loose but there is no hole going thru the entire cap?
