Lift Pump problems MF 40B

The Lift Pump on my 40B failed, I ordered one, it should have been here today, the US postal service has completely screwed me, and the package that should have been here today, is at least 500 miles away... Needless to say I am screwed. Is there any possibility if I take my existing pump apart that I could somehow temporarily fix it to be able to use the tractor this weekend? I really need it to do my hay, which I plan on starting to cut tonight, the 40B i use for my large v wheel 3pt rake, which is currently on it already stuck dead in the field. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Leo

Remove the pump, scribe a mark across both top and bottom sections for reassembly purposes. Remove the screws and check out the internals.
If the diaphram has ruptured you are toast until the new one turns up. If the valves have come loose, which is a common problem, you may be able to refit them and pein the alloy back over the edge of the valve. Be sure to fit the valves back in the correct way, as they need to open and close on the correct port.
Evan.

Evan, I am hoping it is the valves, should be as there is no fuel in the crank case, on my 1130 when the diaphram ruptures I get fuel in the crankcase. I have never seen these "valves" is there any pictures anywhere that would show me which way is the right way for the valves? Since I get absolutely no fuel at all operating the priming lever, I am thinking is may be the valves.

The inlet/exhaust valves are the same assemblies, and are pictured at the bottom of the frame.
Re/valve fitment, when viewing the pic, the fuel will only pass from the side visible, thru to it's opposite side.
It is the inlet valve that comes adrift from the body, usually from a restriction on the suction side, the outlet side valve will still be in situ.
Refit the loose valve back into the body facing the opposite way to the other, remembering of course, that the fuel must pass this one way valve to enter the fuel chamber, and exit the other one way valve in the same manner.

Well, it Rained Thursday morning, and the post office finally delivered my pump after over a 1000 mile detour. I replaced the pump and bled the tractor, got it running, only to find out that the oil pressure gauge line had worn thru and was spewing engine oil. I guess I am lucky the fuel pump quit or I would not likely have seen the oil leak. Did take the old pump apart, the valve on the suction side was unseated. Thanks everyone for all the ideas. I raked hay with it today.

I take it from your message, that since the valve on the suction side was out, there could be a problem with getting fuel from the tank? Is there a screen or something in the tank that could have caused this? If so I may need to remove and clean the tank. Hopefully I can get thru 1st cutting first...
