Ball bearings in timing cover?

Ok, I posted months ago about overhaul z134 4cl gas. I split the tractor, engine on a stand and now disassembled. The teeth on timing gears very worn and several had fractured off.

A few questions:
1. When I pulled timing cover, ten steel ball bearings fell out. I don't see mention of them in manual, where did they go?
2. Does anyone have a recommendation for the exact overhaul manual to buy for this engine.? I have one from a CD, but it seems to leave out some stuff....such as these bearings.
3. Is it cheaper to buy new camshaft or just have the old one ground? Crank?
4. Found a 3in magnet in bottom of oil pan, was this to collect pieces of metal? Was this standard or did someone drop it in?

Taking the block to be cleaned and checked. Never done an overhaul so having a good time and learning a bit. Thanks for any help you can provide.

IMHO, they are the governor "weights".

If the governor balls fell out then it is time for a new governor assembly. Do not have the camshaft ground. If it is in bad shape buy a new one. When you grind camshafts you must get longer pushrods to keep the valvetrain geometry the same.Having the crankshaft turned is cheaper than buying a new one by a considerable amount. Around here having a crank turned is $100.00. A new Z134 crank is $400.00-$500.00 from most places I have seen. You need to have the rods resized and new bushings installed in the small end. Oil pump needs to be rebuilt. The head needs to be leveled, new valve guides installed, valve seats cut,new valves installed, new rocker shaft bushings,etc...Quite a bit of machine shop work if you are going to do it right. The best manual you can get is an original Massey Ferguson manual. The reprints of them are ok but the pictures aren"t as clear as the originals. It"s also handy to get an original parts manual. It helps with reassembly if you forget how something goes back together.
