165 fan belt

I've read that I have to split the front end to change the belt, was wondering if I unbolted the pulley on the crank if I could get it on that way. I've tried a link belt but with all the oil and grime it keeps unhooking. It disconnected today while brush chopping and overheated before I knew it.

Not trying to be a smart ars but maybe it is time to fix the oil leak. I have used the red sectional belting from McMaster Carr for years with no problems. #1 on the page. Not cheap but a lot better than removing the front end. I find it will out last a regular v-belt.

Food plot tractor, not trying to earn a living with it so not worried about a little grime. Back to question, was this really designed to have to split to replace a belt? Looks like there might be enough room to remove the bottom pulley to slip the belt over it, but I would think if it was it would be well documented, any thoughts? Thanks
