Where to find a Massey 50 long block?

I have a 50 Massey that the oil pump went down in and in need of a long block or a complete engine. I don't know where to look or even what engine I'm looking for. Was that engine put into other models? I was told it's a continental. Its a gas tractor.

The MF50 used a Continental Z134 engine. The same engine was used in the Massey Harris 50, Ferguson 40 (F40) and the Ferguson/Massey Ferguson 35. Some early engines did not have the opening in the front left for a power steering pump, so watch for that if you have power steering. Also, check for cracks between the cylinder sleeves at the bottom end. What did the bad oil pump to do your block? Can you rebuild the engine you already have?

I don't think it did anything but the engine over heated and lost power. When we pulled it down the block was cracked and I believe exactly where you stated. I just want to start with the long block or a knowingly operational lower. Mine doesn't have p/s but I sure wished it did. And rear hydraulics as well. Wonder how hard that would be to add? When it quit working it toasted everything really crank, rods, etc. and then we found the block cracked in spots so just wanna start fresh.

Just as a thought...you might be able to
find and install a Perkins Diesel. I paid
around $700 in 2005 for a z145 short
block. For the most part everything should
bolt up if you switch.

I know I wish I had done that back in
2005. But the Continental had better
torque range than the Perkins gas or
diesel

that's not a bad idea but wouldn't a lot of stuff have to be changed out to install a diesel? Electronic and all. I'm fairly certain it bolts up because I believe that was a option wasn't it? Idk maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Would it more reasonable to look for a new tractor rather then fix this one ?? Time you find a used block, rebuild that and try to add power steering and rear hydraulics as well, might be time to find one with all these and possibly a diesel to boot !!

Yes it would be. The deal about it is my dad took it to a mechanic to have it fixed. This guy works for him and he was gonna have it painted too. So it's over there in pieces just need a long block. I had one bought at one time for $250 running. Thought they was easy to find so I didn't get it. That was 5 yrs ago. I know where one is but the guy wants a arm and a leg for it.I'll just keep on looking I guess. And I have a 3600 Ford with a loader we use for bushoging and plowing and whatnot.
