65 lift cover

In trying to figure out why my PTO won't engage in ENGINE position, I pulled the RH inspection cover and found a collapsed filter laying in the bottom left. That explains why it felt mushy when I tried to engage it.
Now I want to pull the lift cover to clean it out and install a new filter. I read about a roller that must be removed from the 100 series before cover removal, but what about a 1963 65? The hits just keep on coming :)

65 hydraulic linkage is different than the 100 series, roller stays on the pump lever on a 65. Look through the right side cover and you will see which side of the roller the levers are on and make sure it goes back the same way. I use the dipstick through the bottom cover hole to hold the lever when replacing the top cover.

My 65 is a little older than yours, a 59 and I still haven't tackled the bad lift yet. Others mention the lift pipe being removed first.Good luck with all your new found problems.

have help or a hoist to remove the lift cover - and especially when replacing it. it is heavy and awkward to handle. take care with the standpipe buth coming and going. I'd advise replacing the o-rings while you're at it.
