Need to split trans to get to the multi power clutch. Book doesn't cover how to split trans from front end in detail. Do I need to unhook anything or once I unbolt every thing will it just slide apart??

If you want to remove the MP clutch pack you need two splits, engine from the transmission front, then remove the transmission from the differential case. The shift tower must come off too to disconnect the MP oil line inside before the rear split can be done. Hope your service manual has good pictures!

an I&t shop manual has a lot of helpful info not that they cover everything, one day I was reading one of there manuals about a repair I was going to do, in the procedure for the repair it involved splitting the tractor I found out I was going about it the hard way and had done it on several masseys, oh well live and learn

Try not to try this alone. Doesn't need to be a tractor mechanic, but someone you know into muscle cars, mud bogger, antique car guy- anyone you know who has done a clutch before, lots to prep for- the front end swivels, got to be wedged up or removed, floor should be flat smooth and level, and have atleast one roller jack, a ton of wood cribbing, 2x4's 4x4's etc etc. This can be sorta dangerous, so don't do it alone - ok? Good luck and be careful!

Thx. I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I
even touch it. I had completely overhauled the engine. Started
right up then herd a knock in trans. Opened it up and drained
the oil. All gears look fine except for the mp clutch pack. I think
the snap ring that holds everything in the multi power housing
broke and let all those gears and discs come out and got
chopped up in the rest of the gears. Lots of metal shavings at
the bottom. Some still big chunks. So I guess I have to split the
tractor in three peices. Not looking forward to taking duel
clutch apart again. Those duel splines are very hard to line up.
Still not sure how to tackle splitting the rear end..

Also, does Anybody know about the stock intake valve seals on the mf 150. Do they sit on top of guides or should I have pressed them in the guides around valve stem?? They are not umbrella seals. They are the flat neoprene washer type.

Any ideas on how to take this front piece off to start taking gears out??

My thoughts on I&T manuals....They're great! Use pages inside for starting fires in wood stove. Then the cover works great to keep grease and fingerprints off cover of REAL manual (from Massey/AGCO) Other than that, they're dang near worthless.
