Ordered a new lift pump off here and had to use half of my old one because inlet nipple threads were incorrect along with outlet.Sometimes I wonder if they don't spaz stuff up on purpose in the land of almost right!

Don't be miserable. Or I'll give away the rest of your black label ration.
Is this on your FE35? Would that have been built with metric threads? And you bought a pump that came with fraction threads...cause that is what's used on UK and US made tractors? You got thread gauges? Or a friend who's a plumber?
They can spot these differences in a second.

Hi Tony,
Perhaps we take it for granted that parts ordered for older tractors in the UK will come with the correct thread. It can go pear-shaped when you perhaps have a tractor in America that was made in France with parts supplied by an American company for UK or American tractors. You can't put a value of the experience gained from knowing what to order if these differences are relate to your tractor.
Sounds like you are in the rudest of health!!!!!!!
Cheers

Actually it was the 65 diesel. Very bad guess Tony as you know my fe is petrol and has no need for a fuel pump.Sounds like maybe you already consumed my ration. It was an ac delco faxsimile. Tried finding a thread chaser at napa with no luck, probably shoulda went for an adapter. Bet those same people supply those.

I kinda like Tony's dry sense of humor, its either that or just some deep seeded problem steming from a 23c boat anchor.ok i'm sorry toooneee.

Oh I'm rude all the time David. Combination of southern Italian and French Canadian. Could be some Bonaparte in my DNA? Good thing for the world I'm not a nuclear engineer eh?

Not a good reader either eh? ... I though 2 (actually 5&1/2) tractors was talking about a hydraulic pump. Not a disgusting little diesel pump... funny that when I started loosening the 'pips'? 'olives'?? on my 23C, a friend gave me a line off a Japanese Ford diesel he scraped, the line threads fit and tightened, and even being over 2 inches longer, the engine sounded the same, no timing change... being a standard... who would stand close enough to hear the difference anyway??

2 tractors is now just becoming worthy to have top shelf Canadian beers, and if he did, all he'll do is smash his finger again...

Best to check the pump lever against the old one you removed. New pumps the lever seems to be a little larger and there is not enough clearance between the cam lobe and the block. On my 65 with AD4-203 it put a wear groove in the cam lobe.
