135 gas tractor runs for a while then dies

my massey ferguson 135 gas tractor will run for a little while then dies. sometimes I can keep it running by playing with the choke. I rebuilt the carburetor myself and it didn't make any difference (1st time ever messing with a carburetor). I also changed the fuel filter and ignition parts. I do not use the tractor on a regular basis and don't want to have to spend a fortune on it but would like for it to run right.
 
Many times if you can keep the motor running by opening the choke, it means the carburetor may still be stopped up.

Did you soak the carb overnight in a carb cleaner?

I think the carb may still be stopped up.

Is the tank clean, I had to add a inline metal fuel filter between the cutoff valve and the carb. If you have dirty fuel flowing to the carb, you will never be able stop the carburetor from getting dirty.

I had a similar problem with my MF 20 Industrial which is basically a MF135. Would sputter and backfire then it would run fine for a few minutes then start running bad again. Sounded like an electrical problem so I replaced the points, condenser, rotor, coil, plugs, even the key switch. When replacing these items, I noticed the negative wire from the coil to the distributor was just about broke in two. There was only one strand of wire out of maybe 6-8 strands that was still intact. I replaced the wire and that was the problem as it runs fine now. This may not be what your problem is but maybe taking a look might help.
