1080 Ferguson Quit pulling

I was bush hogging today and while I was going from one location to the next the tractor quit pulling, motor didn't race up, no noise was made, she just stopped pulling. I am fairly new to a Ferguson, so any help would be appreciated. Lift works, PTO works, dash shifter works ( can see levers moving inside the trans through the fluid fill hole). HELP PLEASE

Dumb question -

Did you make sure you have enough fuel? Have you changed the fuel filters lately? Do you get fuel to the injectors? Battery still good? No loose connections in the wiring harness?

Start cheap and work towards expensive.

Are you sure the clutch aint slipping? Though this is usually a gradual problem......It kinda sounds like the shear tube to the rear axle has snapped or come adrift. I have seen the cotter pin come out and let the tube slide forwards on the shaft. You can look through the dipstick inspection hole to check this out. It is also possible to replace the shear tube through that hole but it is not easy........ The shear tube can be seen in my photo. It is the thicker tube that slides over the drive shaft to the diff. Once the cotter pin is removed it can be slid forwards enough to let the front part of the drive shaft pull out of the back of the gearbox.......Sam

I am fairly sure the clutch isn't slipping, I mean I went from pulling fine with no problem at all, to rolling to a stop on its on, still can shift trans fine with out any grinding or gears. how do I access what I am seeing in this picture, do I need to remove the platform to get to the top of trans

Yes it runs fine, plenty fuel, battery good, it has nothing to do with engine as tractor still starts and runs fine, just want move

As I said in my post.....look through the dipstick or PTO lever inspection plate.....You can fix this problem through these inspection holes also............Sam

If the safety fuse coupling has sheared you might see it through the right side opening, but I doubt you can replace it as the 1080/1085 models have much more hydraulic controls in the way. Left side cover can't be removed as the auxiliary hydraulic lines to the plate can only be removed after the lift cover is off. There may be a chance the clutch disc shaft hub has spline damage, or the hub to plate rivets have sheared, which would keep the input shaft from turning.

Thanks for the advice Sam, pulled side plate off, coupler has slipped off and pin is missing, cant get pin back in through side plate but not much to removing the top plate so I will remove it tomorrow and see about getting coupler back on and pin in, Thanks for the advise great to know that there are folks around that don't mind sharing advise on what they have ran into. Maybe when we get that back together she will run fine.

Hey Sam I got the tractor put back together Sunday and that fixed the problem, but. Now the lift want let down when u put the lever in the down position, anything that I maybe can look at that I may have done wrong when I put it back together. Thanks, oh ya it lifts fine and let"s down when you shut tractor off
