1540 No brakes??

Been using a friend's 1540 to do some pretty hard work, and yesterday the brakes stopped working and went to the floor.. Is there anything typically responsible fot this? lLl I could find online was a description of the tractor that said it had wet disc brakes in the diff. So far I have not found the master cylinder, but it is still on the trailer and I cannot get under it until I unload the machine.

So....what should I look for? If it were a car I could trouble shoot but I assume the hydraulic system provides the oil for the brakes hydraulics?

Wish I had a workshop manual for the tractor..

I found that this 1540 has manual linkage that adjusted just like any other tractor: lengthen or shorten to get the pedal back. Found out also that the brakes were left locked up while operating which accounts for the rapid wear and adjustment needed.. OOPS! I don't think we even have a master cylinder.

I still need a manual, anyone had any luck with the pdf $10 or $15 ones?

About the only thing good about the cd manuals is if someone ask a question online you have the manual close by.
