Clutch went away!!???

On my 65 diesel the clutch stopped working. The
pedal feels the same but when it is depressed
travel does not cease. PTO doesn't stop either.
As I have been rewiring it I have moved it in and
out of the shop and it worked fine. Yesterday I
put the dash back together and hooked up the
MultiPower and it doesn't work either. Could they
be related?
When I switched from my temporary fuel tank to the
real one yesterday I reprimed the fuel system; is
it possible that enough diesel trickled down the
mutlipower rod hole as to get the clutch wet? I
am totally confused.

Hope your lucky and its something easy like that. My "early model" has a threaded weep hole with bolt. Does yours have a bolt there also?I'd pull the inspection plate and have a look.

Mine is a '63 and there is a threaded bolt with about a 3/8" head. I pulled it and tranny fluid came pouring out. I didn't think that too odd since it is only 3/4" higher in elevation than the main drain plug that is under your left foot. Where is the inspection plate you refer to? I have a Massey loader on mine so it may be buried.
Thanks for the help.

Tranny fluid or motor oil? I just checked mine out again, the earlier ones have a brass plug, my 1964 has a brass plug with a cotter pin drilled in it. The inspection plate is a 4 bolt cover on the bottom of the transmission. My old loader had a bracket that used these holes to mount the loader.

Your MP could just be out of adjustment since you had the dash apart. It sounds like your clutch is stuck as far as it not disengaging.

The fluid that came out of the weep hole was milky gray, same as the main drain plug.
I pulled the loader arms and cylinders off yesterday so I guess I'll keep going and take the rest off. Then it's a date with a pressure washer.

Is your loader a front mount pump or off the hyd.I read in archives about interferance with steering and having to use shorter steering arms, anyone know where to get those?Maybe need another post.

I have a front pump. Can't say about the steering arms. If you get some specs I can measure.
Gotswald implement in Hillman, MN just got a late style 65 in for parts.

I pulled the loader frames off both sides and jumped on to pull outside and pressure wash the underside before dropping the bottom mount plate. CLUTCH WORKS!!
Do you suppose beating on those big bolts with an impact hammer broke something loose?
What a relief, but what's to keep it from reocurring?

I have a 1080 that had been sitting in a fence row when I bought it. When I got it running it sat out back for a while then I went to start it and it wouldn't crank over. I took the step off of it so I could see up in the clutch housing to try to turn it over manually and the clutch housing was full of ice. When it all thawed I started but the clutch was rusted together. Same symptoms as listed above. I just stared it in road gear with the help of a hill and drove it around for a while with the clutch pushed in. When it gave I slipped it for a bit to clean things out and sealed up the leaks and its been fine since. Have experienced this with many brands have had excellent results with this process.
