The original subject was "massey 165 perkins engine swap?".
I know this post is old but if you are like me the post might still be relevant. I started with an earlier model mf165 gas, we converted using a 236 from a mf180. The clutch from the diesel was cracked so the wrecker gave us a different one (not sure what it was out of? The back bolted up without problems. the starter was not a problem. On the front end one of the big bolts from engine to front end, right hand side of tractor did not work. We had to drill a hole and tap threads (front end) for the bolt, went well. Lots of little stuff did not work, can't remember it all? fan, rad hoses, throttle linkage, etc. Luckily my mechanic friend had access to a yellow industrial tractor to get parts from which had a 236 engine in it. We did not have to fabricate anything. We having been using tractor for 10 years, did not put the hood on thinking i would fix multi-power. If you want pictures of engine hook up let me know
