Positive or Negative Ground Question

Gentlemen,
I am nearly ready to start my MH44K. I just don"t know if I have a 6v or 12v generator, or if the ground is positive or negative on this machine. All the cables were removed after the tractor was retired from work 45 years ago and stored. I have a new set of battery cables. Any thoughts? Thanks for your assistance. Sapper

All Massey Harris tractors are positive ground. If you have a battery charger put it on 6 volt charge, ground the black terminal to the generator and them bump the red terminal to the armature or field to see which one spins it. If it is 6 volt it will spin normally, if it is 12 volt it will spin slowly. You can have 6 volt Auto-lite generators converted to 12. It will start a whole lot easier.
