Hi,
I figure many of you have used Permatex® Copper Spray-A-Gasket® Hi-Temp Sealant or a similar product when replacing head gaskets. I"m replacing the head gasket on a Perkins AD3-152. The Permatex can has limited instructions that are fairly straight forward with the exception of telling you how long to wait before assembly? Here is what"s on the can,"Shake well with repeated agitation. Hold can 6-10 inches away from surface, depending on width of target area. All surfaces can be pre-coated in advance for convenience. Apply to flange surfaces, both sides of gasket and bolt threads. Wait 30 seconds between coats to allow surface to become tacky.". I"m wondering how long you guys typically wait after applying the copper coat to assemble and torque the head? Are we talking right away or waiting a couple hours so it dries first? Any advice is appreciated.
