Massey 1155

Hi if your area is where they are popular and everybody thinks they are wonderful, around $10.000. if it was round me in Manitoba canada about 4- $5000 real nice on a good day!.
You need to watch that motor now it"s getting hard to find bearings for it if a problem does happen. was a guy here struggling a month ago for motor parts. My old established motor guy couldn"t get them either round here to help him.
if it"s done heavy cultivation rear end/ transmission and hydraulics could be a problem with chipped gears/ stripping pto splines/ any drive couplers or filings in the hydraulic system also.

Had a 1135 here last fall for customer put $2500 of parts in hyd system. I re built the gearbox and axle when I owned it 2 years before that. was another few 0000 then!.
Good tractor if a guy does get a well maintained hardly worked one.I Have seen some real sharp looking ones actually be worn out junk once they got to the field. Buyer be vary wary is my thinking on them they are heading to 35 plus years old for the first ones.
Regards Robert

I'm located in central Illinois and in our area a nice clean/straight with good paint tractor that field ready with everything operational(A/C working, lights working, three point working) would bring $8,500-$10,000.
I hear people talking of rearend/tranny issues with these tractors and we've had 4 1155's and 1 1135 since they were introduced in 1972 and have never tore a rearend out of any of our tractors....and we have really worked them! The 540 V8 Perkins is virtually indestructible and we have NEVER had one torn down! Now the T6-354 in the MF 1135 was junk and don't recommend them! If you need any more info don't hesitate to ask....I have a lot of experience with 1155's.....one of my favorite tractors! Good luck

(quoted from post at 07:34:49 05/07/14) Last time I was out the mid west I came across a breaker yard with at least fifty of those Perkins V8 engines just lying around.

Bill,

Would like to know which salvage yard your talking about!? Thanks

Hi You have been one of the lucky ones. I got a guy local to me worked in the dealers, in the days these were real popular.
He said they got sick of them in the the shop with issues. I know of lots with trans and hyd problems that have been wrecked. The yard I worked in had quite a few with good motors, tires and tin, but junk transmission, axles or hyd pumps. Plus the ones guys phoned in for parts to fix that we never had as they piled up the same.
you get the odd motor needs work I know of 3. 2 local and one on this forum he couldn't get bearings for.
Some guys love em and a good few round here hate em. Being a mechanic/ talking to guys. Seeing whats in the wreckers in large numbers and why, Kinda gives me a fair idea on problems with all makes of tractors.
As far as I'm concerned if your happy with yours, and have had no problems, you have done very well. Not everybody has been so lucky with theirs sadly.
I have seen pictures of this tractor in question and to be honest it rings bells here it is not a premium/mint looking unit by any means.

I bet if a guy asked you about a Deutz above 100 hp you'd say it was junk with trans issues if you know anything about them and the problems they have, and the cost to fix it L.O.L.

Robert,

Would have been nice to see pictures of this tractor in question. What part of the world are you located? I'd love to know more about these "junked" tractors that these guys have that are no longer any good.....sounds like I could get them for a steal sense they are no good in their eyes!? I'd suck them up in a heartbeat!

I'm extremely disappointed in the experiences these farmers have had with their 1155's but I must question what they are doing with these tractors to destroy them??? Lot of the problem could be attributed to operator error??? What kinda service program they have???....... Important to keep fluids full and filters changed!!!

There are two other neighbors in my area with 1155's and they too have never had tranny/hyd issues. For there being some many haters of them they don't last long on dealer lots when they get one for sale.....cheap reliable horsepower!

Hi
I am in Manitoba Canada. The wrecking yard I
worked at and one other that had a lot of these in
has closed down.
Most wrecking yards in canada have them in and
you would not want/ to much gone already to save
them .
They want way to much money for the stuff also if
they are selling, I tried buying whole tractors
from them to fix and retail in other brands as
well as maseys, and it never penciled out. Only
guy that was gonna make money was them.

Shipping would also kill anything cheap before you
got it home unless it was scrap money or less.
Thats why I quit buying tractors to fix and sell.
I don"t see that many good ones up here in farm
sales now or on the dealer lots. The only place
you might find them is still on farms,in the bush
or way over priced on a dealer lot, but they sit
for a long while.
I think most guys up here used them for heavy
cultivation and heavy pto work. plus our very cold
winter climates which could explain why more
survived in the states,on dairy farms.
Like I said guys up here just don"t rate them
anymore and it"s old unreliable technology, the
guys that could fix them are getting thin on the
ground parts are expensive now, and with shop
rates in dealers heading to $120 plus an hour it"s
not economical to fix them now.
Regards Robert
