hey guys just bought a 1964 massey 65 that has been sitting for 10 years and need some help id"ing the carb. my book show it should have the m-s tsx-695 so i bought the major rebuild kit for it only to get home and find out i have a zenith 14992 on it. what is confusing me the most is that my serial number is 685625 which from what i"m finding online should have been lp.i bought it from the original owners son he said it was a demo from the dealer they bought it from and has always been gas.also the choke rod is hooked up but there is a post inside the carb that keeps the choke butterfly from being able to be closedis it possible this was a lp carb converted to gas? if so what kit do i need? if it makes any difference is does have the multi power, power steering and the frontend loader on it
thanks
jason

i'll see what i can do about a pic.
update i went thru my carb and was able to get it running but only at low rpms as soon as i try to tach it up it stalls.everything thing seems to work except the power steering and there is a oil leak under the starter coming from what looks like a carriage bolt. for some reason every part i bought for it didn't fit or leaked. carb kit was wrong point kit wrong even thou it listed my tractor on the package. and the brand new fuel valve and sediment leak.

Just about every sediment bowl leaks after anyone even touching it, sounds like someone has converted yours over to gas and put on a mf carb and all that is ok if set up correctly.Get your leaks fixed, check for good fuel flow, and then a plug read or 2.

Yeah you can look over on the fergy forum and see mine, had to "touch" my bowl today to clean out grime and now it leaks along with the inline filter.
Sounds like either yours is not getting enough gas or either the main jet needs turning out. Make sure fuel flow is good by first draining the carb and then turn it on and check.Mine is deisel.

i was able to get it running a little better but still working out the little bugs. the dealer swaped out the my bowl and gasket saying they were defective funny thing was he had to open 3 other valves to find a bowl that wasn't cracked. i got the choke wroking so it starts alot easier now. if the rain stops today i need to put my tach on it and figure out whats going on. as i move the throttle lever it's fine till about half way but then it;s spring loaded for the second half so i'd have to hold it all the time to get full power? that doesn't seem right to me as none of the other tractors i've run have been like this. either way for a grand i think i got a great deal. i was talking to the old owner today and he did remember changing the carb and reringing the engine

i was finally able to track down the proper carb kit that included the needle and seat. so hoping that helps with the carb issues. as of right now before rebuilding it i am able to get it running but even after adjusting the governer linkages i can only get 1800 rpm out of it.i noticed yesterday it was cranking alot slower so i pulled the starter motor off to clean the brushes and found about a quart of oil inside of it.so far i haven't been able to figure out if there should be oil there ie a wet clutch or not.

As far as the throttle and having to hold it, there's a friction disc on the throttle lever behind the dash. Over time you need to tighten it a bit to take up wear. There is a star shaped spring washer on the shaft that may be broken if tightening up the bolts does nothing.
