Voltage regulator wiring

I am at the point of rewiring my 65 diesel. I bought it as a a fire salvage project. The TISCO voltage regulator I bought has no instructions, and the wiring diagram in the owners manual as well as others on this site do not use common nomenclature. My VR has four terminals; L, BAT, F and a fourth on the back of the VR that is unlabeled. What is the unlabeled one for? One diagram I saw had four terminals; F, 2,3,4-well illustrated and I believe F=F but beyond that I am guessing. At this point I have run a wire from the F term on my generator to F on the VR. I ran a #10 from the A term on the generator to the unmarked lug on the back of the VR. I ran a wire from the L term to the starter switch and finally a wire from the BAT term up to the ammeter. Am I using those VR terminals correctly? I still need to confirm that I bring a wire from the other side of the ammeter down to the big lug on the starter solenoid to charge the battery(yes, no?)and finally the small lug on the left side of the solenoid (facing the back of the tractor), what is it for? The small lug on the right side comes from my neutral safety switch. Does the one on the left get 12V via the starter switch? I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance!!

F 2 3 4 regulator is for alternator

Generator - Regulator
Unlabeled terminal on regulator is Armature input

F on Gen to F on reg
A on Gen to Arm on Reg
L on reg to power light and ignition switches
Bat on reg to one side of ammeter, other side of ammeter to big battery wire at solenoid

Wire from neutral safety switch to solenoid engages the starter

Was there a wire on other solenoid post? It may not be used on your tractor.

Thank you Rvirgil for clearing up the confusion. I don't know if there was a wire to the left post on the solenoid since the fire eliminated most traces. I have used my remote starter switch by clamping the the big positive post and small right post and the engine cranks right off.
Sure appreciate the help. Haying is just a couple weeks off.
