135 engine swap

My buddy has a 2135 with the 3 cyl diesel perkins that has given up on him(low compresson) he has a 135 3 cyl gas 135 that the trany is going out on. Can he swap the gas engine into his 2135? Or is it more trouble than it"s worth?

Dead simple swap....just bolt the complete front end from the clutch bellhousing forwards off one tractor and fit it to the rear half of the other...... Then sell the Perkins diesel to someone who needs a 'decent' engine and is prepared to rebuild it. The diesel Perkins is well worth rebuilding as it has to be one of the best diesels ever? .....Sam

Just was wondering what the ? mark was for Sam? Not to hijack this post, but weren't you just asking about parts for a E 40 Allis Chalmers? I saw one yesterday that a guy was parting when I went to the dentist. What kind of diesel is in that?

Brendan , I suppose the ? is because a statement like that is open for criticism or for somebody to point out a better diesel! In my mind that would also have to be a Perkins!!! Maybe the 4/203?
The Allis ED40 had the Standard motors 23C engine, just about as bad as the Perkins is good!!! LOL.......Sam

Maybe by someone that never ran a Perkins! 203 would have to be the best in my opinion. That Standard motor seemed a little shady to me! Isn't that the fog machine Tony tried to run?
