MH44 steering gear

I want to adjust the steering gear on my MH44. There is a big nut with a screw inside of that, but what looks like a slide adapter on end.

Can you help me?

The large nut is a jam nut. If you loosen that you are able to turn the large screw. This adjusts bearing endplay. The slotted washer thing(slide adapter) when moved one way or another is to adjust lash in the worm gear. I believe procedure is in the service manual for adjustments but i dont have mine handy now.
