MF 52 disc problem

I am trying to replace the bearings on my MF 52 disc, but can"t get nuts on end of axle off. The problem is I can"t stop the axle from rotating. The other end of the axle is square and in a kind of a large circular plate, but have not found a way to stop the plate from rotating. Any advice?

Weld a bar on the other end?

In my old age my patience doesn't last long for stuck fasteners. I'd probably be bringing out the torch and cutting that nut off.

Hi, On the opposite end of shaft there should be
a "bumper" and that should have two holes in it.
A dealer would? have a special wrench(or maybe in
the past)with two prongs that would have held the
shaft from turning. Chuck

Got it! The spacers prevented me from getting a pipe wrench on the shaft, but used a strap type wrench meant for working on small motors to hold the circular plate at the end from turning.
Thanks for the suggestions.
