Pto grinds bad when trying to engage with tiller on..why? And also why is the 3-point so touchy its always either going up or down

As Sam says, are you using the 3 point linkage quadrant controls correctly? See the link below for a previous post I made about a similar issue with MF 100 series tractor hydraulics.

Sounds like you need to set your clutch ? setting is done through the inspection plate underneath. (3 different setting points!) About the thickness of a standard hand held hacksaw blade is good. Which lever are you using on the 3 point? The outer lever is draft setting, the inner one position control. It needs to be set in the raised position to work the draft lever, likewise the draft lever needs to be fully raised for the position lever to work correctly............Sam

You probably have an independent pto, that and the 3 point rock shaft not working at the same time shows there may be a problem with the hydraulic pump - you got a manual?
