Rack broke in power steering unit---parts say new
style---what is old style and will new style work
without changing something?

Maybe its the difference between manual and power but I dought it. The power steering shaft is larger than manual along with the bearings.Probably a later version and would not be on a to35 but a mf35.My manual only shows manual and power.

The orientation of the attachment pin between the piston rod and gear rack has been rotated 90 degrees on the new part so it is now installed sideways instead of top to bottom. I'm sure this was done to address the rack breakage issue and allow it to flex up and down slightly without cracking. The attached picture shows what my old one looked like, but didn't take a picture of the new one. Just rotate the piston rod to the correct orientation to fit the new rack.
