I have a mf230 gas. Gas in tank is boiling after running for awhile. I have new exhaust manifold on order. Also tractor quits running after runs for awhile, cool it then runs ok again for awhile. Having trouble with it short life of points. Trying to find out if electronic ignition is available for this tractor. Distributor cap has "IBT 4406 3j" prestolite! I have and in process now of replacing all filters (air & fuel), coolent, fan belt, all rubber hoses, spark plugs, radiator cap, & thermostat. tractor only has 839 hrs on it. Any ideas? thanks gary
 
sounds like the problem i just fixed on my 135 gas massey. if you are burning up points you need to put a resistor at the coil it took me a stupid week to figure it out and i just fixed it this morning. the tractor would run for 4 or 5 minutes then start stallling then shut off ,i would wait a minute or so and it would crank right back up and run again for 4 or 5 mins then stall. i thought it was the carb the whole time.

Did you get this sorted out? If so, what was the root cause? I have an MF245 with the Z145 engine and the exact same symptoms. I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, coil, coil lead...waiting for the points and condenser. I too would like to convert to electronic ignition.
