Got an older 202 industrial tractor. It's a 4 cylinder gas and
runs great. It's got 4 gears but no clutch semi auto I believe. I
would like to add a pto to it. Is it possible and what is required?
Currently it just has a block off plate where it would go. I also
have a backhoe for this tractor as we'll. thanks guys you can
post back or even email at [email protected]

give me acall and iwill tell you what to look for and do to seeif it will work 740 982 7446

PTO's weren't common with the instant reverse because the PTO changes direction when you go from forward to reverse on the tractor. Really easy to destroy your PTO operated implements or the tractor itself. Personally, I would recommend against it and look for another tractor with a PTO instead.

PTO can be used with instant reverse if you put an overrunning clutch on the tractor PTO. I use my 205 every summer for tedding hay with a PTO tedder.

What did you have to do to add a pto? I popped open the left side cover where the pto switch to look for a hydraulic pump but couldn't see through fluid

I did just this a few months ago. I bought the remains of a 204, and the innards of the arsend all fit in my older 202.
The factory didn't seem to have specific parts for with or without pto, they just left out the expensive pieces the buyer didn't want. the back of the tranny has a spine for the coupler to the hydro pump- you don't need a working internal pump or 3 point right? Just an inch and 3/8 shaft to drive the backhoe's pump? So you need to find atleast a carcass of a hydro pump, just to take up space between the splines. the diff casting should have an unused bearing sitting in there, then you need to find the engaging yoke and rear seals and bearing etc. I don't know what it will cost, but it can be done yeah.

Sorry didn't quite understand fully your post. My 204 has a hydraulic pump on the front of the engine to run the loader and the backhoe. It has 3pth as well but just a block off plate where the pto would go. I drained some fluid and found there is a hydraulic pump under where you sit and it has a splined shaft coming off the back of it. It has another splined shaft connected to it but no collar/coupler to engage the other shaft in there. The shaft runs to a housing under the pinion gears bit beyond that not sure. I believe that shaft just kind of stabilizes that hydraulic pump in there.

Well, I am always telling people to buy manuals, you got one? If you have even an I&T, you can study an exploded view, get an idea of the number and name of- what you do not have- and put out a call for this stuff. It's all out there somewhere, and check you tube videos, some can be pretty informative, not all , but some.

I just happened to find these pics, from last fall. Under the gear is a hole in the casting that may or may not have a needle bearing from the factory, the pump and shaft are 2 of the several pieces you'll need- besides a manual...
