engine fits 101 sr

What size and make of engine were you thinking of using instead of the continental. You could put a any four or six cylinder engine in or a v-6 or v-8.It depends on how much changing and adapting you want to do.The original engine for the 101 senior gas is a continental 226 cubic inch engine. The 44-6 also used the 226 continental engine.

Chrysler 265 would fit right on in a 101 super, but the tub is not the same. The 226-244 have a flat adaptor plate between the clutch housing and the engine. I believe you can put any engine in there that require a plate like that, just make a different one (laser cut + machining), adapting clutch is the most difficult part.
I will start soon on a Pontiac straight 8 on 44 with stuck engine, making a 44-8. Sounds like it will fit.

Yes, the 265 will bolt right in. You need to use the super 101 bellhousing and input shaft. If I were you use the contential 330ci flat head.

Sounds like a neat project but I believe that the Pontiac straight eight is only 259 CI.

They do, however, use a 2V carburetor and were offered with "high compression" cylinder head.

Automotive performance with the 4 speed hydramatic was not bad in its day.
