Getting my flywheel machined tomorrow as im doing the clutch replacement on my massey 165. Does anyone know what I should torque the bolts to. Also I am going to clean the hydraulic filter on the tractor I have the service manual but it doesn't explain how to remove the top cover of the transmission. I have already removed the seat but I have no idea if im suppose to remove the three point arms first or what order to remove stuff any help is greatly appreciated thnx.

Hi,
Flywheel torque for the Perkins AD4.203 and A4.212 fitted to the 165 is 75lb.ft whether you use tabwashers or not. The clutch unit to the flywheel is 19 lb.ft....no more!!!!

All workshop manuals should detail the procedure for the removal of the hydraulic cover. Before any attempt at removal is made you MUST remove the RH round side cover and remove the roller from the top of the pump operating lever.

Depending on whether your tractor has Pressure Control the stackpipe must be withdrawn until it's free (PC) or removed (non PC). The lift rods should be disconnected at the upper arms.

There is an adjustment procedure requiring special tools. If your 'manual' does not give this information I would suggest that you buy another one.....preferably a genuine MF one.

If you have a standard 6-sp transmission and no auxilliary pipework, the filter can be removed through the LH side cover. It should be locked by a wire to the rear plate on the pump. Unscrew the body and retrieve the upper and lower cups and O ring. Be careful as there are some sharp edges inside.
