Massey 202 leaking oil

My beloved 202 (continental Z134 engine) was stuck in the woods for a couple weeks. I went to rescue it today and it was leaking a lot of oil from the bottom where the cotter pin is coming out of the drain hole in the bottom. It was stuck nose down in a ditch for the last two weeks if that matters Lots of snow down so it was easy to see it. Maybe it does it all the time and I don"t notice it, but it sure was dripping at a high constant rate today. Any ideas?

With being nose down motor oil is to front I suspect trans oil.Take oil from trans oil from engine put on white paper compare with oil leak.

Could be that because it was pointed down the oil level in the front of the transmission would have been unusually high and leakd out of a seal that normally doesn't leak because it is not normally submerged. I would leave it on level ground for a bit and see if the leak goes away, then check the oil level and top off as needed. My old Farmall H would leak out the axle ends if I parked it on a side hill but on the level it would not leak because the oil ran back down into the main sump.

Probably as suggested, you have a transmission seal that is bad but doesn't normally leak because the oil level is normally lower than it. Chances are after sitting there you have a LOT of oil built up in the bell housing and probably on the clutch as well. My TO35 had bad seals and I ended up having the clutch rebuilt and replaced the transmission seals while I was at it. So far so good.
Oh, I also had to replace the starter because it ended up being full of transmission fluid (gear oil) too..........good times!
Pull the starter and see if your flywheel is wet with oil.

It may take a while for all of the oil that is in the cavity to drain out through the weep hole, which is quite small. It won't go back into the transmission so it has to leak out of the hole.

I'd drop the inspection plate to allow the fluid to drain good and park it with the nose up for awhile, your pto will start to grind for awhile as well.

Is it possible your tranny has some water in it? That would put the oil level higher in tranny. I would pull the tranny plug and see if any water comes out.

Then I would drain tranny and put 140 w oil in it before I split the tractor.

I used a thinner oil in the tranny of my ford. On a hot summer day, the oil came out in a steady stream. Stopped most of the leaking with a thicker oil.

Stick,
I think the massey 202 is an 8 speed manual tranny. From the description, it sounded to me like the oil was coming form the front seal on the tranny.

The shifter boot on my tranny was bad, rain water got in the tranny and overfilled the tranny. I replaced tranny oil with the newer thinner old. On a hot day, the oil poured out the cotter pin hole in the bell housing.

So I went back to the old school gear lub, 140w, and problem went away.

I could be wrong, but I think the 202 tranny oil is different from the hydraulic oil. If not, I definately wouldn't use 140w in the hyd.
