MF 50 questions

Looking at a 1959 MF 50 as an upgrade to my 8N. Looks good, only a 2 owner machine since new. Tires are good with new rims on back and fronts are ok. Gas engine. Was told that it jumps out of low range. Any ides on what that might be? Runs out well besides that. Price is 3k and I think that's an ok deal but want to be sure before I jump. Any other stuff that is prevalent that I should check for?

Jumping out of low range could be weak springs on the selector detents or it could be the actual selector gear on the rear of the gearbox. Sometimes the split pin is not installed in the right hole of the shear tube to hold the shaft far enough forwards and this eventually wears the ends of the splines on the high low sliding coupler. A new coupler usually sorts this out......
