Massey Furgeson 240 power steering question?

How do I adjust the power steering. Will turn left very easily but going to the right I have to put forth quite a bit more effort. Thanks

I have never worked on my 240-S, but the I&T manual goes on for several paragraphs about adjusting the pressure. Seems like I'd have to disassemble the pump, then adjust pressure with a pressure gage installed. However, on my 240-S first thing I always check is to get the engine running, in neutral, turn wheel hard right, remove the steering pump fill plug and fill with Permatran III.
There is also a steering control valve adjusmtnet procedure in the 240-S owner"s manual, but I"ve never attempted it, and it goes on for half a page. Try to find the manuals, but if you cannot, get back and I;ll try to type it all in for a 240-S. Mighth elp.

Look up under the dash there will be a small turnbuckle with
locknuts on either end, undo the locknuts and move it a little at a
time until you get it right. Retighten the locknuts and try it
again.....it may take a while as it is real sensitive!
PS I am assuming your steering is similar to the British built
tractors?..............Sam
