MF 205 Industrial - Which AG tractor derived from?

We have a 1963 MF 205 Diesel Industrial with shuttle shift but no PTO. It's great when it runs, but needs to be split again to repair a transmission seal leak. I was curious which AG tractor this was made from? I also have a MF 65 tractor with clutch, gears and instant reverse lever which I really like. If I came across a salvage AG tractor setup the same way I would be tempted to convert the 205 rear end. At least you can tow start it when the battery gets low.

It should be based on a 35 but with a 65 type rear axle? There was a shuttle shift that worked with the clutch for these tractors. Ervine Nolt in PA had one in for wrecking....

An MF65 never came with instant reverse. It would have to be an industrial model to have instant reverse or even manual shuttle. Most instant reverse used foot pedals for forward and reverse. Manual shuttle needed the clutch but was controlled by a lever by the steering wheel.

Yes you're correct. My MF 65 Industrial has a manual shuttle lever to change directions after pressing the clutch. I like that better than only pedals on the 205 which are instant reverse. Easy to get yourself in trouble if pressing the wrong one. When moving down hill the pedal must be pressed all the time too or it will free wheel. Don't like that either. Great motor in the 205, 3 cyl. Perkins diesel. Very smooth runner. Both are nice loader tractors. The MFs have taken over most of the loader work from our Farmall M.
