oil slinger on Perkins A4.318

I'm reassembling Perkin A4.318 and was scanning the repair manual and it references re-installing oil slinger between crankshaft gear and front seal. I am pretty sure don't remember seeing one during disassembly (then again, I am going senile). I can't find one in my parts box and I don't see one in the parts book.
Is there an oil slinger on a Perkins A4.318? I have a 1981 MF 285.

A slinger most often looks like a stamped sheetmetal "fender" washer - though bigger diameter. The center is generally pressed at almost 90 and it's intended to be tight on the shaft and uses centrifugal forces to "sling" most oil/water/etc away from the seal.

Yes there is supposed to be a slinger. Same as on the 1080 and the super 90s, 300 perkins engine. Part number is different however for these two models, 733048m1.
Your part number is 745246m1. Basically a dish shaped piece of iron, fits right in front of the crankshaft gear.

Is it relatively thin like a washer?
Totally flat?
I think I found the part. I thought it went on something else.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I had some E-mail problems here. Also had to find my slinger. I hope to upload a photo, if I can figure out how to do it. My slinger is about 4 3/8 inches across. Flat except for the turned up edge. Has a Perkins part number on it of 33157516 stamped to the other side. This one is off a Super 90 tractor. Wayne

Thanks a lot for the photo Wayne.
I looked everywhere and can't find that part in what I took off the engine. I am starting to think I didn't have one on. I imagine if I didn't use one, I would be more susceptible to a front seal leak.
