Mf 50, gas in oil.

Hauled it home last night filled it up on way home, got up this morning the carb was dripping had about 5 gallons overnight, drained oil, it was dirty as expected but it all seemed to be oil.
Put new oil in and filter, started it up and let it run and I didn't have a good seal on the filter so I had to re drain the oil and this time a noticeable amount of gas was in the oil.

Any advice will help... I'm not a mechanic but If I have a diagnosis I can fix it. Thank you I really appreciate it.

Also is it a possibility that there was just as much gas in the oil before but it had already thinned it out so I just didn't notice it?

This fix will serve you well, is very inexpensive and works 100% of the time: Turn off the fuel at the sediment bowl after every use of the tractor.

I have seen freshly rebuilt carburetors with a new inlet needle/seat stick in the open position. Might be only once in 50 times but sooner or later it will get you.

So nothing is broken or needs fixed? Just put fresh oil in it and make sure I turn the gas off when I shut it off?

If you tear down the carburetor you may find an obvious problem such as a leaking float. Then again, you may find nothing.

Even if you determine the carburetor is in new condition, I still recomend turning off the fuel.
