255 trans case and differential case

Is the transmission case and differential housing the same in a 255 and a 265. Mine in my 255 are cracked and I have found a reasonable priced case and housing for a 265 .

You could try checking the casting numbers. I think they could be the same because early 255's used a smaller/less HP engine but later 255's used the same engine and it could easily be turned up to same HP as the 265.

There was really only two types of Transmission case. The early one had only 2 bolts at the top of the flange and the later one had 3 bolts.
Later Edit......The real early casing for the 35/50/65 had lighter studs for the swinging drawbar than what the 100 series onwards had.
