lubrication system on MF 35

i recently changer the oil filter on a 35 i had just purchased. definatley needed it. upon investaginf the system seem oil comes into the canister through a maybe 1/4 inch hole in the block. then must return through the vary tiny hole in the cannister bolt. am i rite on this? seems like way too small a hole for oil to flow.

It is not a full pressure oil filter system. Just a small portion of
the oil goes thru the filter. Nothing like a full pressure system on a modern engine.

I change filter every other oil change (100 hrs) on my z145.

Brain,
my old 1957 TO-35 has a washer and spring inside the oil filter canister,

this washer and spring go on the bolt first then the filter, this spring pushes down on the filter and holds it against the motor block.

if you do not have the spring and washer inside the filter, the oil will just flow around the filter, even if you have a filter in the canister, you have no filtering action.

might check your system out, if you have a later model tractor, your system may not require the spring and washer.
