mf-65 cause of engine revving up down

got power steering converted to from manual on the mf-65 & discovered the shaft that connects steering wheel is bent, bent so bad that it effects the governor just the touch of the steering wheel. with manual steering, it was so hard to steer, you didnt notice that it was tied to the engine revving up & down. bought used & been fighting this for years & I never hit anything to cause steering shaft to bend. anybody experience this?

I guess I'm not following you? what part do you mean by steering shaft? The gearbox or something else? I guess your pump and everything fit. Did your tractor do this before you added the PS?

yes, with manual steering, the engine revs up & down. I should of explained better-with power steering you can watch the throttle lever move with the steering wheel. with manual steering, I didnt notice the shaft was out of round(bent),and the throttle was moving when you turned steering wheel. we were thinking it was carb or govenor issues.

Is there sufficient pressure on the friction washer and spring? If you are going straight and with the throttle set will it hold rpm or does it throttle down as you go? I will have to go out and look but I thought that the steering shaft was in a tube. Are the bolts holding the tube on loose?

when your going straight, rpm"s are steady. only when you are turning steering wheel(even sitting still) the engine goes up & down. you can see the out of round(est. 1" play)in the steering wheel when turning steering wheel while sitting idling. not sure about bolts-are talking the base of the steering unit?

just pulled steering wheel off steering rod-goveror is held on to a pipe that surrounds the shaft.that pipe is loose around the shaft. that pipe happens to be cracked(I dont think that has any bearing on why rpm's go up & down, but the shaft is bent bad. will the steering shaft come out if you take the 4 bolts on the base of unit?

Was wondering if you couldnt somehow hold the throttle rod to the metal underneath instead of steering shaft? The bent steering rod wouldnt have tobe fixed, if theres a way to hold throttle rod in place.

update-straighten steering wheel shaft with hyd. press-not perfect but straight enought so that throttle is not reving up & down every time steering wheel is turned. with now power steering & an engine that doesnt stall & rev up & down, it feels like I have a new tractor.
