started my to35 in the barn to move outside it took a while to let the cluck out to keep engine running after moving outside i notice oil on the snow pull back in barn and the oil was dripping from vent hole on trans case drain oil so could it be trans seal or rear seal of eng. there is an inspection plate? on bottom of trans case in front drain plug would i be able tell anything from there any help would be appreicate

It's hard to say what oil it is if it's black and looks like the oil on the end of your engines dip stick motor oil most likely it is just don't over fill the tranny oil a little low is ok or it will be coming from the transmission

On my old to35 that leaks a little oil from the
front of the transmission shaft.

I would place a clean pan or paper towel down under tractor and catch some of the oil, you must know if you are dealing with motor oil or trans/hyd oil.

With lift arms in the up position, so cylinder is
full of oil, I never fill the transmission/hydraulic
sump over 1/2 way up on the dip stick, or to the
center line. do not overfill!!!!!

So far this method has worked well, very little lost out of trans front sump.

My up side down cotter key finally broke off last
year so I check that drain hole in the bottom of the <
>trans housing each time I fuel the tractor.

Does any one know if you can replace the up side
down cotter key with out splitting the tractor???

you must keep that drain hole open!!!!!!!!!!
