MF 245 slow hydraulics

Just picked up a MF 245 with loader and the hydraulics are slow but are strong it will pick the front of the tractor up. I was thinking of changing the hydraulic fluid and filter if that does not fix it what else would I look at ?

Please don"t take this the wrong way, but how slow is slow? The hydraulic system on these Massey tractors is not known to be quick! I would suggest a flow test before parting with much money, you may find that it is how it is.

My MF-240-S only has 670 hours on it, and it has always been slow. Powerful, but slow. In the back of my mind, I seem think that if you want more speed, you need a front-mount hydraulic pump, give you more GPM. Seem to think it is or was an option.

Are you using the internal hydraulic pump or does it have a front mounted pump? If you are using the internal pump it will be slow.

It uses the tractors hydraulics I have had other tractors like this one and they was faster . Which makes me believe the filter is plugged up.

You're only about 4 1/2 GPM's at full throttle. It depends on the size of the cylinders, if the hyd's are set right, the temperature, etc.

Had a loader on my 245 when I got it. Strong as an ox but slower.....with internal hydraulics. I parted with the loader since my other tractor has one. Not only was it slow, but extremely heavy. There is a valve in front of the seat that let me choose either the loader or the 3 point but not both. Made using either one a pain.
