MHF 50 hydraulic pump

I was going to rebuild the system in my late '57 Model 50 but found out the kit for my pump is no longer made (small dia. pistons). I bought a new pump and re-ringed the lift cylinder piston. Adjusted the controls and tightened the draft spring. Works like a charm now. Just to darn cold to get out and play with it.The simplicity of the whole thing is amazing.

Make sure you change the relief valve and get the correct one. And make sure the arms don"t lift too high. If I"m not mistaken the MHF 50 has the same problem as the 35"s. If the relief valve is old and sticks it will bust the top cover and if the upper limit on the lift arms is too high it will bust the top cover. Especially the earlier tractors because there top cover was thinner than later models.

thanks for the tips. had a new relief valve and everything works like it should. the real test is when I hook the 5' Servis shredder (mower in some parts) up this summer when it's 100 degrees.
