MF 202 1963 model/year Power steering pump

I am attempting to replace the ps pump on this unit. I ordered a new pump from ebay. The new pump reservoir is shorter and larger in diameter than the old one. This is a problem because there is 0 clearance between the pump and distributer.
The old reservoir is 4 1/2 x 4. The new one is 5 1/2 x 3. Has anyone run into this and if so what is the fix?

can you use the old reservoir on your new pump I took mine apart to paint and clean there is a nut under the filter mount,

I had the same clearance issue and reluctantly fired up the torch,heated the contact area red hot and tapped with a hammer to get the fit. Had to do it twice to get about 1/8 in clearance. Possibly could have fitted the old can. I hated to do this to a new 600.00 pump but it worked out. Take a deep breath and take your time.
