MF 175 clutch problem

I was using my 175 to scrape out a barn. It was working well until I tried to push the clutch in. When I depressed the pedal it weny straight to the floor panel. no popping no back pressure and the tractor would not stop. Finally stopped it by shutting off engine. I know it coukd brca number of things butcwhst is the most common cause for this? Any help is appreciate

It could be that the arm that move the clutch release bearing is disconnected from the shaft> That would be the cheapest fix:
This might be a key or a pin that is broken outside or inside the flywheel housing. You may have to split the tractor, but just have to change a pin.

Then it could be that the clutch mecanism went bad, I mean, some of the fingers that release the clutch, bent or ditach from the clutch for some reason, but it would be a bit odd.

So I suggest that you look for an inspection cover, if there is one, and then you look inside if the release bearing move when you move the pedal.

To make sure of the problem, disconnect the rod from the shaft that protude out of the flywheel housing, and try to turn that shaft. If you can turn it a lot (you can figure out what the normal stroke whould be by pushing on the clutch) , it means that the release arm is disconnected inside.
