I read in an old post that your name is indicative of a connection the buckeye state. Makes sense to me! I had Toledo roots before getting my heels stuck in tar down south some 20 years ago. What I wanted to tell you is that I am new to this board (long time participant in the J-D discussion board) and noticed rather quickly that you seem to have some pretty good experience with M-F issues. I am very new to M-F and appreciate the knowledge I am finding here. I now have the inside hydraulic control lever "swinging in the breezes" so to speak. Moving it affects nothing. My local dealer says the top cover will likely have to come off and it will probably take about three hours to open it, relink whatever is loose inside and close it up again. Does that time frame sound about right to you?

Loren, I would agree on the timeline quoted by dealer. I don't know what those folks charge now days. If, however, you have an overhead hoist (one person job) or an engine hoist (two person job) you could repair it yourself. My background was in heavy manufacturing as a machine repairman for 30 years, so that helped. Get yourself a manual before starting project.

My 150 was a junker when I bought it. After seven months of rebuilding I learned a lot. Previous tractors were 1942 Farmall BN, 1943 Ford 9N and a International TD-6.

I hope the Buckeye's do a better job on those Gamecocks when they next meet.

Don"t know what your cover weighs, or how awkward it is, but I lifted the top cover off my Farmall by hooking a pulley-lift-system I rigged up up to the rafters in the barn. As I remember I just tied it off when I got it high enough. Sorta hill-billied it, but didn"t cost anything.

I think the right thing for me to do, given my lack of knowledge of this tractor and time constraints with other projects, is to take it to the dealer and bring it home working again. He said their rate is $72/hour.
