135 vs 150?

Not tractor data's fault really. There are few differences, mainly steering, front axle, which does make the 150 weigh more.
No more z134's in 150's, yet still available in 135, I suppose the 9 cu in was needed to pull the extra iron around.
From a distance?? seems most 150's sit higher.
That extra heavy front clip and axle makes the 150 a better? stronger/safer? loader tractor.
 
In terms of horsepower and engine options there
were no differences between the two tractors. The
difference was how the tractor was physically
configured.

135's are utility tractors with a lower center of
gravity and could be bought in the US as Narrow,
Orchard, Vineyard, Special (Barebones w/z134
engine), and Deluxe. They had a lighter front end
which typically made them less suitable for loader
work. Engines were the Perkins AG3.152. AD3.152,
Continental z145 and z134.

150's were the "row crop" version of the 135
sharing more design elements and components from
the 165. In other words, the 150 was a taller
profile tractor and more than likely be available
in a Standard, high-arch, tricycle or single wheel
configuration.

If I recall correctly they did not have the
control beam set up on the three point that 165
and the 135 Orchards came with. Engines that were
available were the Continental z145, Perkins Gas
and Diesel. MF 150s typically came with Flat top
fenders whereas on a MF 135 it was an option. The
pressure control hitch was an option on both
series (minus the 135 Special).

The 150 was exclusive to the US (and maybe Canada)
. The 135/150 would compete against the Ford 3000
AP and the John Deere 1010 in its various
configurations. Horsepower was approximately 38-
42HP and this tractor would have been a three
(bottom) tractor. MF Poor has a beautifully
restored MF 150 he bought new.

I see one turned up on craigslist Syracuse, it's in Parish. 3800 bucks, a little steep but it looked pretty decent in the picture. I just bought another 65 or I might be interested. I saw a 135 bring 3500 at an auction in DeKalb last week.

Not really looking, but I saw the 150 on CL you mentioned and was wondering what the diff was.

ETA- my neighbor just bought a non-running 135 diesel. wouldn't start after a rebuild, for $200.00. :shock:
 
What adeal for $200. Where am I when these deals come up. My brother had a nice little 135 diesel and he sold it for $5000 about ten years ago.
 

Neighbor is just one of those guys that runs onto stuff. Works for one of the roofing outfits done in Gouverneur and travels all over. I can't hate him, he's a darn nice guy to top it off!
 
Just been reading thru these posts, we never got the 150, which I understand in laymans terms to be a 165 with the 135 motor, is that correct?
Did you guys get the 148? same as a 135 but with the 6" spacer housing in the transmission, and usually speced on 12.4-32 rears and 6.00-19 fronts. Lost a bit of the 135s nippyness but you could use all of its power with the longer chassis and bigger tyres.
 
150's have a heavier steering bolster, heavier front axle, and different steering. They have a larger fuel tank, different air cleaner, different sheet metal (to allow for larger fuel tank) The 150 has a higher capacity radiator. 150's came standard with flat top fenders (w/lighting), float ride seat, PAVT rear wheels, and full instrumentation. 150's due to front axle/steering bolster carried several hundred pounds more front weight, along with slightly longer wheel base, which made it more stable when carrying heavy weight on hitch.

At the time of their introduction in 1964, the 150 diesel was the most fuel efficient tractor tested by Univ of Nebraska.

Everything that's good about a 135 is just a little BETTER on a 150! I've got two of them. One, a 1971 model, I've owned since new.
