MF 165 hydraulics

I have a 1972 MF 165 diesel and the 3 point hitch no longer lifts. I have used it with various implements weighing up to 1600lbs and it has always worked fine. Most recently I was using an auger and it worked great. But yesterday I got on the tractor to move it and realized that there was zero lift on the 3 point hitch. No noise either. It just wasn't working at all. I noticed that there seemed to be a bit of oil seeping out near the PTO shaft. That didn't seem too unusual to me but maybe there was a little more than normal. There's plenty of oil in the case though. It just stopped working. Any tips what to check first?

Does it have remote hydraulics? Could the lever have shifted? I
know on some types of valves one lever has to be in a certain
position for the 3 point to work. Other than that...if it has been
sitting for a while the control valve may have stuck.

My 150 did the same thing. Control spool was stuck. Pulled
right cover, after draining to lower bolt holes, reached in and
moved spool a little by hand. No problem since.

It sat for a couple of weeks in the up position,
which is rare. I"ll drain it and take the right
cover off and see (and hope and pray) if that"s it.
Thanks a million for the tip.
