MF 35 Diff Oil

Does anyone know how to replace Diff oil? There is a drain plug at the bottom but no filler plug at top. Its difficult pouring oil through a bolt hole!!
Thanks for a easy way in anticipation chaps.

I have a 150, however I believe it is the same as the 35.

There are two plugs for drainage, the one of which you speak, and one forward near transmission. The differential and transmission share a common reservoir.

The fill plug is to the left of the shifter. Takes eight gallon in my 150, your 35 may take less.

Of course I wondered what that plug was for . Talk about being silly. I am in Australia and work in Litres but ALL good now and many thanks.

8 U.S. Gallons = 30 Litres... (approximately; 30.283 litres to be exact)...

less what I spilt trying to get it in the bolt hole. Now that's another story. I managed to use a garden pressure spray and filled it with the oil. Took a while and a lot of pumping but got there eventually

The fill hole is in an awkward spot for sure. I have a selection of funnels and finding one that fits the hole AND clears the dash means that it's still a pretty narrow opening. I switched to 10W30 in mine which I bought in 1gal jugs.........yes, we're metric here in Canada too but I live on the border with the US so I bought gallon jugs. With the gallon jugs, if you're careful and angle the jug just the right way you don't even need a funnel and filling is much quicker.

Don't you just love these forums so you get to speak to people all over the world and to be able to share/impart all that knowledge. I think its just great and in the short time I have been a user have picked up many time and cost saving hints.

Specialized forums like this are great because it brings EVERYONE with a similar interest together no matter where in the world they are. In my area I don't find too many other people who enjoy tractors in the same way I do. There are lots of tractor users and buyers/sellers and just people who own tractors but don't know or care to know much about them. On these forums most people not only own tractors, they also care about them. The fact that I've met interesting and helpful people from all over the globe is just the icing on the cake!

I enjoy this site, log on every day, just to try and
help where I can. My only tractor is this 1967
MF150. I have had a 1942 Farmall BN and a 1940's 9N.
Both did what I needed at the time. Now that we have
a 80 acre woodlot, I needed something to tug trees
and maintain roadway into property.

The 150 was a complete rebuild, took me seven
months, start to finish. Learned a lot :)

What a lovely Job I haven't heard of a 150 before not sure if that there are that many of them out here in Australia. I have had my 35 for over 30 years and all I have ever had to do was have the injector pump overhauled because it was leaking fuel. The 3 Cyl Perkins starts first up every time.
Best wishes
