Grey Pony re-visited

This is interesting. As I get to repainting this
one I plan to make it grey. I have a red one that
I think is a '50. It has different strut braces
on the wishbone of the front axle.

Massey Harris shareholders voted to merge with Ferguson on 9/22/1953. The Grey Pony's were built in 1954 the last year for the Pony. Dealers told M-H-F their customers wanted bigger tractors not little ones.

The pacers were painted massey harris colors.According to serial number Charles pony should be painted massey harris colors. But if it was distibuted through a ferguson dealer when it was new it would have been painted gray.So we can-not say it will be the wrong color. An example of different things massey harris did is my brothers 102 senior,s serial number is listed in the 101 super serial numbers. The serial number plate and decal shows it was sold as a 102 senior.

If your tag has M-H-F and serial 22181 someone has added it, and is wrong if it is truly a 53. I would say it's primer showing and is a red MH. Like others have said they were only built in 1954 starting with 23149. But if you want it gray it's your tractor, I would paint it gray. Only people (FENA)that really know will know its not a true grey Ferguson.
