I am working on a 44 cont. gas engine it came here in buckets. Is there supposed to be an oil line from the rear main bearing housing (brass fitting) to the oil pump?? If so, I cant see it in the AGCO parts books. it looks like it just press fits into the oil pump?? ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

I recall the brass elbow fitting threads into the pump is for the oil tube pickup screen assembly. The pump oil outlet enters through the front maincap. No lines to the rear main.

Larry,

There is a sleeve that goes between the pump and the main bearing cap. I missed that when I assembled mine and it had no oil pressure. I machined a new one on the lathe out of a pipe nipple.

Thank-you for the replies. I still wonder what threads on to the 3/8 in. brass fitting that comes out of the REAR main bearing housing ?

The oil pump should bolt onto the rear main cap, then there is a short sleeve that connects the oil pump to the cap. The oil pump should have pipe threads on it to connect to pickup screen.

Are you missing the oil pump?

Larry -

The oil pump mounts to the FRONT main. As others have said there is a bushing that fits in between the pump body and the front main cap. Without it, you will not have pressure. Please see the attached diagram for the fittings and pickup tube that you are needing...

There are no brass fittings on the center or rear main caps. Do you have a picture of the fitting in question?

Thanks,

The pump is mounted on. I Am just curious what that 1//2 inch hole in the pump housing on THE OPPOSITE SIDE of the pump pick-up is for, it is not a threaded hole, I am concerned that with nothing in that other hole the oil pick-up will not perform.. I don't have a picture, but there is also a brass fitting coming out of the REAR main rod cap, Maybe someone tapped it to try to spray oil at the piston bottoms for pulling or other non-sense. THANK-YOU so much I know I am trying your patience with these dumb/abnormal questions. I will try for some pics.
